CHURCH PLANTING UPDATES

 

WOODLAND HILLS

They began meeting in the summer of 2004. They are currently using facilities on Sunday mornings at 2720 S. Blairstone #F and #G, just south of Apalachee Parkway .

Sunday morning worship service is at 10:00 am.

The lead pastor, David Bearden, is a graduate of Florida State University and Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Debi, have 2 children.

FAITH FELLOWSHIP

This church in Crawfordville started in 2005. Their pastor is Tommy Tennison and the Associate pastor is Gary Austin. The church meets at 4416 Crawfordville Hwy, Crawfordville. The building is 1/4 mile south of the library, in a light blue building. Sunday School is 9:30 am, Sunday Morning Worship is at 10:30 am, Sunday Evening Bible Study at 6:00 pm and Wednesday Night Bible Study is at 7:00 pm.

CHAPEL HILL BAPTIST

In the Fall of 2005, a group of about 40 people began meeting together in worship and Bible study with a vision to establish a new church in Tallahassee. There are now over 100 meeting each week in the Workforce Development building at Tallahassee Community College, 444 Appleyard Dr., Tallahassee.

The church meets for Sunday School at 9:00 am and has Bible study groups which provide for all ages. Sunday Worship is at 10:00 am. Wednesday night at 6:30 is their Mid-week Gathering at another location.

Chapel Hill is a great example of a church that is reaching out to their community to do acts of love in Jesus name.

HISPANIC FIRST BAPTIST

Martin Ramirez is the pastor.

They currently have over 50 people attending each week.

This church began in 2006 and currently meets in the chapel of Bradfordville First Baptist Church, 6494 Thomasville Rd., Tallahassee.

The church meets for Sunday School at 9:45 am and Worship at 11:00 am. Wednesday night at 7:30 is prayer meeting.

There are presently three Sunday School classes for Adults, Youth and Children.

NEW BEGINNINGS

Begun in 2006, this church meets at 8957 Woodville Highway. Sunday School is at 10:00 am and Worship is from 10:45 to 12:00 noon. On Wednesday night, the church has a small group which meets in the pastor’s home at 7:00 pm.

Pastor Charles Boykin graduated from Tennessee Temple University, and served as Youth Pastor and Senior Pastor before coming to New Beginnings.

One of their outreach and service ministries is to softball players and their families.

THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE HILLS

The church began meeting in the living room of the pastor and now they are meeting in the worship center of East Hill Baptist Church, 912 Miccosukee Road, on Sunday evenings at 5:30 p.m. They have a number of small groups meetings in homes each week for Bible study and fellowship. In addition to adults, there are over 100 college students who are part of this church.

Brian Brown is the pastor of Fellowship of the Hills. Brian and his wife Tami have two children.

CITY CHURCH TALLAHASSEE

City Church Tallahassee began in May, 2007 and meets each week at 1184 Capital Circle NE, on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11:00 am and Sunday nights at 8:00 pm. . They have over 600 people meeting each week for the worship services and many small groups meeting for Bible study in homes.

At Easter, they had a community service that met at The Moon and had approximately 3,000  people attend.

Pastor Dean Inserra has had a calling on his life since he was the student body president at Leon High School to start a church in his hometown of Tallahassee. Dean's desire is to lead a church that connects with the needs of his generation and the college campuses of Tallahassee. He has a degree in Biblical Studies from Liberty University and also attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

 LIFEBASICS

In the Fall of 2008, Parkway Baptist Church launched a new church that is now meeting at Conley Elementary School on Orange Ave. in Southwood. They are a contemporary style church that is reaching new families.

Don McLaughlin is the pastor. Worship is on Sunday at 10:00 am.

Activities are provided for children during the worship service.

CROSSROAD BIBLE CHURCH

In the summer of 2009, Mark Mahew, founding pastor of Crossroad Bible Church, began meeting with interested families about starting a church on the East side of Tallahassee at the intersection of Buck Lake Road and Chairs Cross Road. They began a weekly Bible study and a Sunday morning worship service and want to build a church that can meet the needs of the community and reflects it's diversity.
