Inter-Mission with David David Southerland
To begin again – always, is one of the greatest joys in being a Christian. Let’s face it, we have never met the perfect person, least of all ourselves. The Christian Life is not easy. It can be painfully difficult. Read the Beatitudes for a refresher course. We need forgiveness and guidance from an almighty God today as ever before. We fail. We make mistakes. We sin. It is good, so stupendous, unlike anything else, to know that no matter what my situation in life, we are okay with the Lord! We are loved, forgiven, sustained, and fit to begin again, if necessary. My minister-father wrote Phil. 4:19 on the fly leaf of a New Testament he had given me for my Ordination at 19 years of age. I took the words as my promise from God based upon my father’s advice – as his words had always proved true. In the intervening years I “learned through living” to lean upon Phil 4:19 as being written by God himself. I could depend upon His Words. They became personal. At the beginning of this new year I share with you Phil. 4:19-20 “But my God shall supply all of your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now unto God and our Father be glory forever and ever. Amen” Begin again. You literally can do it. For this new year, begin again and again and again. All you need is the will to do it and let the Lord supply. And, if you “blow it” in 2010, so what – begin again. You can do it!
