Innovator Florida Baptist Association Tallahassee, Florida Baptist Association www.floridabaptistassociation.org SEPTEMBER 2010
Inter-Mission with David David Southerland
The Florida Baptist Association annual Evening of Praise and Worship service includes music, testimonies and guest speaker. All churches in the Association are encouraged to bring their congregation for this joint worship service. Your Association operates under the authority of the Association Council that meets twice yearly. The last meeting for the Council this year is September 16, Northwoods Baptist Church, 10:30 a.m. fellowship, 11:00 a.m. meeting, followed by lunch. This meeting will be attended by our Senior pastors and one layman from each of our churches. In this end of our year meeting, we shall vote on our new budget, new officers and review the new Association Council. Between sessions of the 40 - 50 persons in attendance of the Association Council, our five Association Directors meet at least every other month to keep our Staff and the Association on track through their support, critique, and vision sharing, especially with our short-term and long-term Strategic Goals in view. I have very much appreciated the efforts of our staff, the Association Directors, the Association Council, and the openness of our churches to assist Association missions this year! Though faced with challenges, we have continued to develop our effectiveness and to grow. I could not ask for more. Thank you, everyone!

Maguire State Mission Offering Dear Pastors: …I need your help. During the second week of September, Florida Baptists will observe the Week of Prayer for State Missions and the Maguire State Mission Offering. All of our mission work supported by the offering is vital… The offering also underwrites our mission partnerships nationally and internationally. However, at this time, our work in Haiti is absolutely critical. We have had “boots-on-the-ground” since day one after the January 12 earthquake. We have been able to do what we have done because of our 15-year partnership and network of 900 churches in Haiti. Our seven missionaries are paid through the resources of the Maguire State Mission Offering... Please give to the State Mission Offering and lead your church to give. May the good things of grace continue. Blessings, John Sullivan Office of Executive Director-Treasurer
The Maguire State Mission Offering Has a Missionary Purpose: - helping new congregations through church site loans - supporting partnership missions nationally and internationally - spreading the gospel through evangelistic ministry - helping revitalize churches in Florida's changing neighborhoods - ministering to migrant farm laborers - helping sustain medical and dental missions And a Biblical Mandate: Get out into the neighborhoods. Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 10:5-8 "Go to the lost, confused people right here and tell them the Kingdom is here. Heal the sick, tough the untouchables and drive out demons. Give as freely as you have received."
Through the 27 ministries supported by the Maguire State Mission Offering, Florida Baptists are getting out into their neighborhood, in their own backyards and in communities of their mission partners. They are taking Christ's command to His disciples to heart, going out into their own communities in search of the spiritually lost, the broken and needy.
FSU Baptist Collegiate Ministry Greetings from the campus of Florida State University! I’ve heard that there is a distinct change in the Tallahassee climate between Summer and Fall semester and I am quickly learning how true that is. As I type this, the campus is bustling with activity as students move into their dorms. The next three weeks are going to be crucial in impacting the campus for Christ as many freshmen students leave home for the first time and make life-defining decisions such as who their friends will be, who they will be, and what they will believe. Many of these activities will have already taken place by the time you read this but to keep you up to date on things, I figured it might be best to run some numbers by you: • 12 - number of students/leaders who attended National Collegiate Week and whose lives were changed as a result • 3,000 - number of roundtrip miles traveled for National Collegiate Week to Glorietta, NM in vans provided by FBC Crawfordville (Thank you so much, James Bridwell and FBC Crawfordville!) • 40,000 - population increase of Tallahassee with students returning for fall semester • 6,000 - number of brand new freshmen coming to campus in Fall 2010 • 15 - number of BCM stations giving away free sno-cones to students • 150 - number of students who were at BCM’s first Edge Café, our weekly luncheon • 27 - date of our Freshmen Survival, where Hall of Fame Coach Mickey Andrews was our guest speaker to new freshmen at the BCM. Please be in prayer for us as we begin a new semester of campus ministry. If you are interested in partnering with us in ministry, please let us know. Also, if there are any needs that you have, let us know as well. We look forward to seeing you and coming alongside you as we reach college students for Christ. Lance T. Beauchamp Director, Baptist Collegiate Ministries Florida State University

Gingerbread Tree Project: it will begin Friday, October 22. We have approximately 60 children to provide Christmas for including campus residents, foster children, and foster-to-adopt placements. This is a special way for our friends to give and care for our children. Each child will be selecting gifts that he or she would like to receive, one in each of the following price ranges: small ($10-20), medium ($20-50), and large ($50-75). Those who would like to participate may come by our office to select a gingerbread boy or girl. You may also email Christal Kellogg at Christal.kellogg@fbchomes.org or call our office at (850) 878-1458 and we will gladly send you one by mail.
